The First International Competition for Young Opera Singers "Kamen Chanev" will attract young opera talents from different parts of the world to Plovdiv from August 22 to 26. The organizers of the competition are the foundation named after the prominent Bulgarian tenor Kamen Chanev, who died suddenly after complications from Covid-19 last year, and the Plovdiv-based Opera House.

40 candidates from different continents showed interest in the competition. 28 of them were selected for the first round. The jury is headed by Jose Cura.
The laureates will participate in a gala evening with the orchestra of the Plovdiv Opera on August 26 at the Ancient Theatre under the baton of Jose Cura.
