"Bulgaria categorically condemns Russia's unprovoked and unjustified war against Ukraine," Interim Deputy Defence Minister Teodora Genchovska said during a videoconference meeting with the defence ministers of Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Georgia.

"Our position is unchanging, clear and unequivocal: we support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, including its territorial waters," she stressed.

Teodora Gencovska also said that the country supports NATO initiatives, including the Alliance's increased presence on the Eastern flank through the new battle groups in Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. Participants in the meeting warned that war is a threat to the stability of the entire Black Sea region.
