Bulgaria's caretaker cabinet is preparing a law for the adoption of the euro, BNR reported. After the meeting of the government, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov stated that the goal was for the proposal to be considered by a regular parliament and expressed hope that this would happen by the beginning of 2023.

According to Pekanov, a national plan for the introduction of the euro from 1 January 2024 has been adopted. The caretaker cabinet continues to work in this direction, as it believes that joining the Eurozone will bring benefits both for the economy and for the image of Bulgaria.

After the meeting, it also became clear that the caretaker government has asked the EC for an advance of nearly 1.4 billion euros under the Recovery Plan. According to Pekanov, the money will be used for renovation of buildings, new technologies for businesses and projects in the transportation sector.
