GERB – 23.4%, We Continue the Change – 17.5%, Movement for Rights and Freedoms– 10.9%: Alpha Research survey

The election campaign has started with an almost 6 percentage point lead for GERB (23.4%) ahead of its principal rival We Continue the Change (17.5%).

This is indicated by a nationwide survey by Alpha Research sociological agency, conducted in the period from 27 August – 2 September, 2022 with a sample size of 1,117 adults over the age of 18, funded by the agency, and conducted by face-to-face standardized interview using tablets at the respondents’ homes.

Third, after GERB and We Continue the Change, comes the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 10.9% of the votes, the Bulgarian Socialist Party with 9.8%, Vazrazhdane with 9.5%, Democratic Bulgaria with 7.5%, Balgarski Vazhod (Bulgarian Rise) with 4.2%. There Is Such a People garners 3.9%, just below the 4% electoral threshold.  

26.4% of the respondents say it is more probable that a government will be formed around GERB party, 24.2% - around We Continue the Change, and only 5.4% - that a coalition between them is possible. The highest percentage – 44% - state they cannot say which party is more likely to be able to form a government.

Top 3 of the problems that matter to people most, selected by 8 in 10 Bulgarians are: inflation (88.6%), energy prices (85.7%), health care (83.1%). Fourth comes Russia’s war in Ukraine with 69.1%, the survey indicates.
