The death of 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II has shaken the British nation and triggered a wave of sympathy around the world. "Queen Elizabeth II was interested in Bulgaria, she knew well the relations between our two countries," Bulgarian Ambassador to Britain Marin Raykov told bTV. He recalled his meeting with Elizabeth II three years ago. "What struck me was the combination of dignity,  austerity and cordiality," he said, adding that the British sovereign's legacy is yet to be appreciated.
President Rumen Radev was among the high-ranking Bulgarian politicians who had personal impressions of the monarch. "Queen Elizabeth II took a keen interest in the history and culture of our country," President Radev said after his audience at Buckingham Palace four years ago.
