The Military Prosecutor's Office in Sliven has started investigation of a plane crash this afternoon at the Bezmer Air Force base. The accident happened during a training flight.

For reasons still unknown, the pilot lost control of the Su-25 military aircraft, after which he managed to eject. The plane crashed and burned completely. The pilot, who was taken to the Military Hospital in Sofia, is in relatively good condition, the military district prosecutor of Sliven, Colonel Hristo Tinev, said. The pilot is a senior officer with a lot of experience.

This is not the first incident involving military aircraft in Bulgaria. In June 2021, a MiG-29 crashed into the Black Sea as the pilot lost his life. Bulgaria has eight Su-25 aircraft. A year or so ago they underwent a major overhaul in Belarus.
