An exhibition in Chicago puts on display 33 paintings by Bulgarian actor and TV presenter Vassil Vassilev-Zouek, who has had a successful career as an artist in recent years. The exhibition entitled "My World" will take place on October 12 and 13 in the Magura Cultural Center. The author will attend the opening at 19:00 local time to meet his fans. In the coming weeks, the exhibition "My World" will also visit the galleries of two libraries in the region of Chicago. It will be on display at the Prospect Heights Library starting November 1st and at the Niles-Main District Library on December 1st.

Vassil Vassilev-Zouek rediscovered painting in the midst of the pandemic back in the summer of 2020. Then, together with his family, he decided to leave Bulgaria and went to Spain. In one of his rare interviews, he says that he has fully devoted himself to the art of painting, which brings him great personal and creative satisfaction. He also says that he manages to support himself with his paintings. It turns out that the popular actor and presenter has an undeniable talent as an artist. His canvases are highly valued and sell well abroad.

Zouek’s last solo exhibition took place in the spring in Le Papillon Art Gallery in Varna. Critics defined his works as figurative and illustrative, saying that the images in them were instinctively deformed and elongated, reminiscent of the magical effect of puppets in the theater.

"During my whole life I have been telling people things that I think could be helpful. Whether I do it with a painting or with something else - it doesn't matter at all," the artist says. He describes his works as "theatrical" although the beloved Bulgarian artist now expresses his ideas not with the language of the theater, but with paint. He works mostly with acrylic pint, but sometimes oil paint and even mixed technique.

What should we expect from the upcoming exhibition? It will certainly resemble its author - multi-layered in expression, impactful, recognizable, iconic and original, organizers from the "Magura" Cultural Center in Chicago say.
