Council of Rectors calls for simplified enrollment procedures for international students

The Council of Rectors of the Republic of Bulgaria insists that the country begins discussions on simplifying the procedures for enrolling foreign students.

In other countries it takes four weeks to process the documents, whereas in Bulgaria it takes more than four months which turns away students", Associate Professor Todor Radev, Rector of Varna University of Management said for "Sega" newspaper.

In June, the requirement for a medical certificate was abolished, but translations of diplomas or letters of training are still required from the schools the prospective students graduated from. The issuance of Type D Visa is slow and is not done online, Todor Radev points out.

Medicine is the most preferred major by foreign students, because of the high quality of education and low fees.
