Bulgarian high school students won 4 medals at the Balkan Physics Olympiad

Bulgarian students performed brilliantly at the Balkan Physics Olympiad. They won two gold and two silver medals in a competition with 56 participants from 9 Balkan and 5 visiting countries.


The Olympiad was held online from 7 to 9 October, with Cyprus as the virtual host, the Ministry of Education and Science said. Gold medals were earned by Margoulan Ismoldaev from the High School of Mathematics in Varna and Georgi Kostadinov from the Burgas High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The silver medals were awarded to Rumen Dimitrov from the Sofia High School of Mathematics and Geo Kalfov, a student of the First Private Math School, also in Sofia.


The four Bulgarians were coached by Maya Zhekova from the Faculty of Physics of St. Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia.
