110 years since the first combat flight of Bulgaria's aviation

On today's date in 1912, during the Balkan War, lieutenants Radul Milkov and Prodan Tarakchiev were the first to use an airplane as a combat tool in the skies over Edirne. Therefore, October 16 has been declared the holiday of Bulgaria’s aviation. The two young Bulgarian pilots flew over the Edirne fortress with a German-made Albatross plane and threw hand grenades over the Karaagac station. This is also the first combat flight in Europe.
