Bulgaria and North Macedonia sign an agreement on gas supplies

The Bulgarian gas transmission operator "Bulgartransgaz" and the operator of the gas transmission system of the Republic of  North Macedonia "GA-MA" signed an interconnection agreement for the Kyustendil/Zhidilovo point. The agreement is of key importance for the diversification and security of natural gas supplies in North Macedonia, for which it is the only entry point for natural gas supplies.

The agreement envisages increasing the transmission capacity by 500 thousand cubic metres per day from Bulgaria to its western neighbour. North Macedonia does not have its own gas deposits and storage for natural gas and relies entirely on the transmission through Bulgaria to guarantee its necessary quantities.
