European Parliament is expected to vote on a resolution designating Russia "a state sponsor of terrorism"

The Ukrainian army has launched an operation to recapture the Kinburn peninsula on the left bank of the Dnieper, Ukraine’s Supreme Command Authority and the administration of Mykolaiv Oblast announced, AFP reported. The rough sea favours the operation, said the Ukrainian Armed Forces and did not provide any further details. Local authorities in Crimea said Ukraine targeted the port city of Sevastopol with a drone attack. Sevastopol is the major base for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. Two drones had been shot down and no civilian infrastructure had been damaged, the Russian-installed governor of the Sevastopol region Mihail Razvozhaev said and added that the drones appeared to be on a course to attack a power plant in the Balaklava district, east of the city.

The European Parliament is expected to vote on a resolution designating Russia a “state sponsor” of terrorism for its actions in Ukraine. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe called last month on its 46 member states to declare Russia under its current government a terrorist regime. Bulgarian MEPs from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats will vote against, MEP Petar Vitanov said for the BNR. The European People’s Party request to include Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party in the EU list of terrorist organizations was excluded from the updated version of the resolution. The Russian President himself is not mentioned in the text either.
