The Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly condemns the shooting at the Bulgarian club "Tsar Boris III" on November 23, 2022 in Ohrid.

This criminal act has been the third attack against the cultural club for less than two months, a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads. The previous attack took place just two days ago and a verbal note was sent to the North Macedonian Embassy in Sofia.

The ministry expects the competent authorities in the Republic of North Macedonia to take action as soon as possible, in order to reveal and bring to justice the perpetrators of the crime against the “Tsar Boris III” Club. On this occasion, Mrs. Agneza Rusi-Popovska, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of North Macedonia, was called to a meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, at which she would receive the protest note.

President Rumen Radev strongly condemned the attack. "An absolutely unacceptable act of vandalism and aggression that has been inspired for decades against Bulgaria and the Bulgarians",  President Radev said. “North Macedonia must understand that the road to EU accession passes through the recognition and respect of the rights of Macedonian Bulgarians and our cultural and historical heritage”, noted Rumen Radev.
