The National Security Service and the Ministry of the Interior cannot become hostage to short-term political ambitions, President Rumen Radev announced. He emphasized that he will not accept the resignation submitted by the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Petar Todorov. Radev said he would not agree that the chief commissioner Todorov should take responsibility for the problems accumulated in the system of the Ministry of Interior for many years as he has been working to resolve them since his appointment in august 2021.

A few days ago, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Todorov, resigned due to yet another incident in which a police officer was injured while detaining illegal migrants.
