Bulgarian ports will not be able to function if Lukoil Neftohim Burgas ceases operations. In a statement to the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and four other ministers, the Bulgarian Association of Tug Owners warned that this would block the operation of the ports indefinitely and make tugboat services significantly more expensive.
The declaration also notes that Lukoil Neftohim Burgas provides 40% of the Burgas port's cargo turnover, as well as fuel for tugboats. More than 350 people work on the association's 22 ships in Varna and Burgas. Therefore, the representatives of the association call on the Parliament and the Government to "take a responsible decision for the sake of the Bulgarian national interest."
They also draw attention to the fact that Lukoil Neftohim, as a private company, in February stated its position against the war in Ukraine.
