Protest against violence to animals

Citizens of Sofia protested in front of the courthouse against violence to animals. The occasion was the fate of the dog Mecho (Bear), who was tied up and sadistically tortured. The protesters are demanding a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison against the animal's torturer. The demonstrators insist that the perpetrator can also attack people with equal cruelty.

The Sofia City Court has remanded in custody Zahari Shulev, accused of brutalizing the animal. There is evidence in the case that this is not the first time Shulev has shown particular cruelty to animals.

From the shelter for dogs of the NGO Animal Rescue - Sofia reported that there were many people willing to adopt the injured stray dog.
