The number of flu cases in Bulgaria and Serbia is very low. Romania and Turkey have already been hit by a flu wave. Incidence rate in Greece is low. The current epidemiological situation is no different from previous situations. We can expect some increase in incidence rate in January, said Professor Todor Kantardzhiev, former head of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.

In his words, patients should drink a lot of fluids and eat lemon when they feel the early symptoms of flu. According to Professor Kantardzhiev, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes can cause tonsillitis. Symptoms of streptococcal tonsillitis do not include cough. Cough is caused by viral infections, explained Professor Todor Kantardzhiev.

"Flu incidence will peak at the end of February. There is no flu pandemic in Bulgaria at present. As for Covid-19, the old variant of Omicron is still dominant", said Todor Kantardzhiev.
