Hristo Marinov, the mutafchiya, was declared a living human treasure

Mutafchiya master from Gabrovo Hristo Marinov has been declared a living human treasure. The maker of goat hair rugs, bags, etc, will be registered in the National List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bulgaria. 

Hristo Marinov is the only person in Bulgaria who still has mastery of the old craft. He was certified as a master 40 years ago. Since then he has been working and demonstrating his art in the Ethnographic Open Air Museum "Etar". He uses authentic traditional technology to make goat hair rugs. bedspreads and bags, BNR correspondent in Gabrovo Velina Mahlebashieva reports.
