The first group of the 31st Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition has arrived at the Bulgarian Antarctic Base on Livingston Island, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, headed by Professor Hristo Pimpirev, informed in a Facebook post. Around midnight, the group disembarked from the Chilean warship "Galvarino” after a ten-hour sail. The vessel brought the Bulgarian polar researchers from the neighboring island King George. The polar researchers will prepare the Bulgarian Antarctic base on Livingstone Island in anticipation of the second group.

The Bulgarian military research ship "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" will make its first journey to Antarctica as part of the Bulgarian Antarctic expedition. It is expected to depart from the port of Varna in mid-December and reach the Bulgarian Antarctic base on Livingston Island 45 days later.
