Bulgaria and Turkey are neighbors in a complex region close to the war in Ukraine, so cooperation between Sofia and Ankara is important for the stability of Southeast Europe. This was what President Rumen Radev said after a meeting in Istanbul with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan. The two discussed bilateral relations, energy cooperation and migration pressure.

After the meeting, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that the cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey will reach new levels with the modernization of the border checkpoints on Bulgarian territory and with the creation of the infrastructure necessary for food control.
