Karlos Nasar won gold in the clean and jerk and broke the world record at the World Weightlifting Championships in Bogota (Colombia). The 18-year-old Bulgarian made three unsuccessful attempts in the snatch, before achieving a record of 220 kg in the clean and jerk on his third attempt. In his very first attempt, the Bulgarian lifted 212 kg and broke the world record for juniors. He then failed at 217kg, but on his third attempt at 220kg he secured the gold and broke the Senior world record, as well.

This is the second medal for Bulgaria from the championships, after Bozhidar Andreev snatched silver in the 73 kg category. Bulgaria's participation in the competition continues on Wednesday.
