The teaching of the Bulgarian language is banned in the settlements under Russian occupation in Ukraine, said the director of the Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, Raina Mandzhukova.

She refuted the claims of Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of Vazrazhdane Party, that Bulgarian has not been taught in Ukrainian state schools for years, and that it is only taught in Sunday schools. Manjukova categorically stated that Bulgarian language is being taught in Ukrainian schools.

Raina Mandzhukova also said that the agency maintains contact with Bulgarian communities and organizations in Ukraine, as well as with individual citizens. However, she pointed out that not everything the institution does can be made public in the conditions of war.
