BNR to receive additional funds to ensure cyber security

Bulgaria's Council of Ministers has approved an additional transfer in the amount of BGN 1,660,000 (EUR 830,000) to the budget of the Bulgarian National Radio for 2022, BTA reported. The aim is to ensure a high level of protection of the information and communication infrastructure as well as the non-interruption of the on-air broadcasting of the BNR programmes.

The funds are provided via restructuring of expenses and/or transfers under the central budget for 2022.
In recent months, cyberattacks against websites of state institutions, organizations and media outlets have become more frequent, BTA recalls.

In mid-October, the BNR website was unavailable for several days, and on December 13, the BNR content and broadcast management system became the target of a hacker attack.
