In December, the Sofia Zoo passed a long-awaited monitoring for membership in the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).
A preliminary report will be prepared at the end of February, as the final results are expected in April 2023, Sofia Zoo director Dobromir Borislavov told BNR-Radio Sofia.

The largest in the Balkans, the Sofia Zoo has long tried to work according to the standards of the international association with the best conditions for the animals and for the visitors.

The criteria are very high, and the monitoring procedure is not easy, stressed Borislavov.

EAZA membership will allow the zoo to exchange important animal information as well as know-how.
