Hoteliers in the region of Velingrad report the strongest winter season in four years, due to the lifting of anti-epidemic restrictions and the warm winter. Currently, the number of tourists in the town is equal to that before the pandemic, Zlatko Zlatanov, Chairman of the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs in Velingrad said in an interview with BNR-Plovdiv.

According to him, when there is snow, tourists prefer the ski resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo, but when the weather is warmer, many people visit Velingrad to enjoy the mineral water springs and pools.

About 80 percent of the hotel beds in the town, also known as the spa capital of the Balkans, are occupied even after the Christmas and New Year holidays, Zlatanov says. He added that in addition to tourists, many foreign owners of apartments visit the town - mostly citizens from neighboring Greece and Turkey. The chairman of the local association of hoteliers and restaurateurs said that no new price rise is expected in the resort town in the near future.
