The fence on the Bulgarian-Turkish border was constructed in a way that allows it to be easily crossable, admitted the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Petar Todorov, who together with representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of War inspected the facility in the area of the town of Elhovo.

He assured that work is underway on its technical maintenance and that sensor lines and thermal video systems will be deployed along the entire length of the fence. "The border is not guarded by the barrier but by the personnel here," the Chief Secretary stressed, however. According to Rositsa Dimitrova, director of the General Directorate of Border Police, last year 164,000 attempts to illegally enter the country were prevented at the location.
