A Japanese-Bulgarian R&D centre in Bulgaria will develop new dairy and other products containing the Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacterium.
This was discussed at a meeting between Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov, Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hiroshi Narahira and representatives of Meiji Group, who are in the country to discuss the project. The project will be a joint venture with the state-owned enterprise "LB Bulgaricum".

The initiative is in connection with the 50th anniversary of the launch of Bulgarian yoghurt on the Japanese market. "I hope that at the EXPO-2025 world exhibition in Osaka, Japan, we will have the opportunity to present the new dairy products developed in our joint scientific centre," Stoyanov said.
