Rainfalls in Ardino cut off link to several villages

Photo: BNR - Radio Kardzhali

A partial state of emergency has been declared in the municipality of Ardino in southern Bulgaria, because of the heavy rainfall in the region.

The rising waters of the Arda River flooded the bridge near the village of Kitnitsa. The bridge connects eight villages in the municipality and is the only road link for local people. When the Arda River rises, the water overflows and crossing the bridge is dangerous and that is why the villages remain without a transport connection for the time being.

There are currently no reports of other damages caused by the downpour, Valya Apostolova, correspondent of the BNR in Kardzhali, informed.
