BSP returns the third government-forming mandate

Today, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is to return the third and last government-forming mandate to Bulgaria’s head of state. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the parliamentary group and the executive bureau of BSP, as the socialists failed to find the necessary support from the other parliamentary forces.

Under the constitution, if the third attempt for forming a cabinet fails, Bulgaria’s President must dissolve the Parliament and schedule early parliamentary elections within 60 days of issuing the dissolution decree.
