In Brussels, Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov informed his colleagues from the Foreign Affairs Council about the deteriorating situation of North Macedonia's citizens who identify themselves as Bulgarians. Minister Milkov emphasized the assault against Hristian Pendikov in Ohrid. Nikolay Milkov regretted that this act of violence was one of the many anti-Bulgarian manifestations in recent months. In his words, Skopje must commit actively and fully to the protection of the rights of Bulgarians and honour the commitments assumed within the framework of the country's European integration process, the BTA reported.

"It is critically important that the conversations between Skopje and Sofia be calmed. Leaders on both sides of the border should be able to discuss calmly and rationally what the way forward is", the United States Ambassador to North Macedonia Angela Aggeler said for Telma TV.
