Taking into account the technical challenges for the Central Electoral Commission, the elections will be held on the first possible date when there will be no problem with the machine voting so that it is possible to comply with the law, which states that every Bulgarian citizen must have the choice to vote by machine or by paper, President Rumen Radev told journalists. He announced that he would issue a decree dissolving parliament on February 3 and schedule parliamentary elections for the 49th National Assembly for April 2.

"I hope the remaining time will be used by the MPs in the 48th National Assembly and they will prove that the fight against corruption, air defense, European integration are a real priority and not just election promises," Radev said.
