BNR celebrates its 88th birthday. The date is related to the signing of a decree in 1935 by which Tsar Boris III approved the Law on Radio and turned radio broadcasting into state property.
On this occasion, at a solemn ceremony this evening, the 23rd Sirak Skitnik Awards were presented for significant contribution to the development of the public media. Radio Bulgaria received three nominations.
The grand prize "Sirak Skitnik" for contribution to the development of public media went to Emil Yanev, presenter of the programme "A Streetcar at your Desire" on the Hristo Botev Programme of the Bulgarian National Radio
In addition to the award named after the first director of BNR, the annual awards for radio journalism were also presented.

The individual award for radio journalism, outstanding presence in front of the microphone and advocacy of ideas and positions that contributed to establishing the authority of the BNR in 2022 went to the BNR team which covered the severe floods and their aftermath in Plovdiv region: the news desk of Radio Plovdiv, the correspondent of BNR Kremena Daneva and the reporter of Horizon programme Evelina Stoyanova.
