Heavy machinery is clearing the riverbeds in the villages of Karavelovo and Bogdan near Karlovo, where a partial state of emergency was declared yesterday.

Millions of cubic meters of sediment have accumulated in the river valleys, which raise the water level.
Residents in the two villages, as well as in neighboring Slatina, have not slept for two nights because of worry after several days of rain

According to the mayor of the municipality of Karlovo, Emil Kabaivanov, the memory of the catastrophic disaster in September of this year in locals is still fresh and painful. However, he assured that there is currently no threat to them and their property.
In the meantime, it became clear that three ministers - of regional development, of the environment and of agriculture, will get to know the situation on the spot in order to determine what additional support is needed from the state.
