Bulgaria’s National Assembly condemned the acts of violence against ethnic Bulgarians in North Macedonia - especially the crime against the secretary of a Bulgarian cultural club Hristian Pendikov. The MPs called on the institutions to take systematic measures to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In their declaration, the lawmakers also expressed concern that the escalating anti-Bulgarian campaign could jeopardise the process of inclusion of Bulgarians in the constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia and pose a threat on that country‘s EU path. The document, which was adopted with only one abstention, also objects to the continued failure to implement the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the two countries.
