An international conference on effective surveillance of the EU's external borders, organised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, is held in Sofia.

Discussions focus on curbing the growing number of migrants, traffickers and human trafficking. Attendees include representatives from 25 EU member states and Schengen associated countries, Frontex, Europol and EU-Lisa. "Our aim is to find common ground in our approach to border control, which will facilitate future discussions and, above all, the right decisions," said Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.
