“What I saw from the Magnitsky sanctions is one more slap in the face of all institutions,” Interior Minister in the caretaker cabinet Ivan Demerdzhiev said for the BNR.

“What I find interesting is the motive regarding (Vladislav) Goranov, that he motivated certain persons to adopt favorable legislation for interested parties. It is easy to answer the question who had a majority for adopting the given legislation,” Minister Demerdzhiev said, and called on the prosecutor’s office to take steps.

“Corruption kills, it drains our resource, our future. For years Europe, our other partners have been telling us “do something”, said Deputy PM Atanas Pekanov in a comment on the new names of Bulgarians added to the Magnitsky list.

He added that the cabinet would re-submit the judicial reform legislation to the new National Assembly.
