In memory of Assen Zidarov and a life devoted to radio and photography

Another golden voice of Radio Bulgaria is now somewhere among the stars in the sky. Assen Zidarov - a long-time translator and host in the French section of Radio Bulgaria passed away.

A bright person with many interests, Assen was known by the nickname "The Biker" because of more than 140,000 kilometers that he passed on his bicycle. His name is also associated with many feature films and documentaries, which he translated and dubbed for the Bulgarian National Television. In the last years of his life, Assen Zidarov was devoted to his passion for photography, creating expressive shots of our everyday life.

Assen Zidarov's entire professional life was spent in Radio Bulgaria and he considered this a privilege:

"I worked for 39 years in the French section of Radio Bulgaria. It was very exciting time and I have wonderful memories. In addition to being a translator and radio host, I also did several hundred interviews. I was the host of my own show, which was called ‘Sofia - My Love’ and our listeners from France and Belgium liked it very much" - Assen Zidarov once told us.

Assen Zidarov – “Radio Bulgaria, my love”

Today, at 2:30 p.m. in "St. Sofia" church, friends and colleagues will say a last goodbye to Assen Zidarov.

A deep bow!
