In the tiniest Bulgarian town of Melnik three government ministers inaugurated the first official wine route in the country. The Ministers of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev, Tourism Ilin Dimitrov and Agriculture Yavor Gechev symbolically handed over the wine route signs to the mayors of Melnik and Sandanski.

The Struma Valley Wine Route is one of the 12 wine routes in Bulgaria, which according to the Wine Tourism Development Plan, have been declared as part of the intangible cultural heritage of Bulgaria.

The ministries of tourism and agriculture are initiating the development of a digital map of Bulgaria, combining the country's cultural, wine routes, farmers' markets, natural and historical sites, the ministers said.
