The political crisis is at the root of the delay in Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone. This was stated by the governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Dimitar Radev, in his first public appearance, after it became clear that the target date - January 1, 2024, cannot be achieved, and entry into the currency union will be delayed by at least a year due to high inflation and the non-acceptance of several laws.
With the formation of the 49th National Assembly, the caretaker cabinet will once again introduce the necessary bills in order to move Bulgaria forward on the path of the euro, stated the caretaker Minister of Finance Rositza Velkova-Zheleva.

"We hope that Bulgaria will become the 21st country to join the euro area, cementing its membership of the European family and securing its place at the core of the European process," said Valdis Dombrovskis, EC Executive Vice President, today at the "Bulgaria towards the euro" conference taking place in Sofia.
The adoption of the euro helps promote foreign and domestic investment, leading to higher economic growth and more jobs, Dombrovskis said.
