CITUB warns that in recent weeks cases of unfair trade practices have increased and there is evidence of speculative price increases throughout the supply chain. In this regard, the trade union demands that immediate measures be taken and suggest concrete steps. Among them are the introduction of uniform terms for price changes and payment for delivery throughout the chain, as well as checking the ways in which new participants are admitted to the market.

On the occasion of the frequent signals from consumers, a few days ago the Commission for the Protection of Competition announced that it was starting a preliminary investigation into unfair competition in food prices and the increase in prices in stores and retail chains.

The Commission for Consumer Protection, together with the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the National Revenue Agency, have already started massive checks in the commercial network.

CITUB indicate that despite the checks, there is still no information from the competent authorities about the unjustified price rises.
