Russia launched waves of missile and drone attacks overnight, causing power outages across Ukraine. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Lutsk and Rivne were subjected to attacks. Buildings and infrastructure were hit in Kharkiv and Odessa. The U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, suggested that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin might be planning to drag out the war for years but that Russia was not strong enough to launch major new offensive this year.
Citing the Ukrainian consortium Energoatom, the UNIAN news agency reported that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was left without electricity for the 6th time since the start of the Russian occupation, which may result in a technogenic disaster.
