Flu cases are decreasing in all age groups, Professor Todor Kantardzhiev said for the public service broadcaster BNT. "Until now, the cases of influenza were decreasing countrywide, but flu cases in children were on the rise", the expert said.

In Todor Kantardzhiev’s words, this season’s flu wave is already subsiding. This trend is backed by the fact that flu variants that cause mild illness are now prevalent. According to Professor Kantardzhiev, who is currently a consultant on health issues of the Sofia Municipality, the low incidence is also due to the successful vaccination campaign of the Ministry of Health targeted at people over 65. Professor Kantardzhiev also noted that he was against mandatory flu vaccination of children.
