The Children's Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio with chief conductor Venetia Karamanova presents its traditional Spring Concert. Tonight, March 17 at 19.00 in Bulgaria Concert Hall, the young ensemble will be celebrating the coming of spring and its 63rd birthday.

The concert will feature young operatic soprano Maria Slavova, a long-time soloist of the Children's Radio Choir, guitarist Vasil Ignatov and Demetra Andzhalika (marimba). Chief conductor of the ensemble is Venetsia Karamanova, conductor - Mihaela Koteva, piano accompanists - Siana Atanasova and Yana Lolova.

In addition to works by world composers such as Giuseppe Verdi and Astor Piazzolla, the programme of the spring concert also presents Bulgarian composers, including Parashkev Khadzhiev, Lyubomir Pipkov and others.

"A champion of children's choirs around the world" and "An amazing world-class choir" - these are but a few of the superlatives in the world press after the numerous tours of the BNR Children's Choir, founded in 1960.

A reputation as a top-notch choir always precedes its busy concert schedule, which has earned it dozens of awards and an endless list of tours around the world. Academician Hristo Nedyalkov was the choir's founder and its principal conductor from 1960 until his death in 2013. After him, the chief conductor has been Venetsia Karamanova.
