Days of Bulgaria to take place in Canada's British Columbia province

Bulgarians in British Columbia - the westernmost province of Canada - are looking forward to the Days of Bulgaria initiative, which will start on March 26 in Deer Lake Park in the city of Burnaby. Bulgarian roses will be planted in the space in front of the local Art Gallery. After the ceremony, a meeting will be held in the local museum, where the Canadian public will be introduced to interesting facts about Bulgaria. 

"We will talk about our beautiful nature - mountains, rivers and seas. We will make you empathize with our folklore and our customs. During the event, we will present Kazanlak - the city of the roses and will tell you about Bulgaria's Valley of Roses," reports the Facebook group of the Bulgarian-Canadian Society in British Columbia.‎

2023 marks 30 years since the foundation of the organized study of the Bulgarian language was laid and 20 years since the organized Bulgarian folklore activity in Vancouver. There are two Bulgarian schools and several dance groups in the Canadian city. 
"We are proud and, above all, grateful that these activities over the years and until now have been realized with a lot of work and time of dozens of patriotic volunteers," shared the administrators of the Facebook page of the Bulgarian-Canadian society in British Columbia, adding: "On the occasion of these anniversaries, we are currently collecting materials in order to make an archive about the history of the teaching of the Bulgarian language and the organized dance activity of the Bulgarian diaspora in Vancouver: memories of participants, recordings of events, photo and video materials from the numerous events of the dance groups and the children at the Bulgarian school.
