Big retail chains are being checked for cartel practices

The Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) is checking large retail chains for suspicious practices and cartels. 
Several unannounced inspections are being carried out at the offices of hypermarket chains, companies and their partnerships involved in the production and trade of basic foodstuffs in the country, the commission said. 
The inspections came after a CPC analysis showed that food prices had risen unreasonably high.
