Ten tankers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) totaling 1 billion cubic metres are expected to be unloaded and to head for Bulgaria in 2024, Energy Minister in the caretaker cabinet Rossen Hristov stated. Minister Hristov added that this constitutes around one-third of Bulgaria’s needs. Together with Bulgartransgaz Executive Director Vladimir Malinov, Minister Hristov is inspecting the LNG terminal near Alexandroupolis in Greece, of which Bulgaria holds 20%. Representatives of the management of the Greek contractor company are also taking part in the inspection.

“The deadline for completing the terminal is the end of this year, so it can enter into commercial exploitation as of next year,” Rossen Hristov said.
