Bulgaria to sign deals with US, France for four nuclear units at Kozloduy, Benele N-Plants, deputy minister says

Bulgaria will agree an engineering deal with U.S. company Westinghouse for the construction of two AP1000 reactors at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, Deputy Energy Minister Elenko Bozhkov said. A FEED (Front End Engineering Design) contract is to be signed with Westinghouse, Mr Bozhkov said on the sidelines of a conference in Sofia on nuclear energy development. The European Commission has to approve the contract for the construction of units 7 and 8 at Kozloduy NPP.
The same type of agreement will be signed with France's EDF (Electricité de France) for the construction of two units of 1,000 megawatt capacity using the existing Russian VVER-1000 equipment at the Belene site, Bozhkov added.
