The National Statistical Institute has reported that February marked a significant rise in the number of tourists, there were more overnight stays, mostly in hotels of a higher category and a significant increase in incomes.
The total number of overnight stays for the month was 1.2 million or 50.6% more compared to a year earlier. The rise in overnight stays by 62.8% is greater in one-star and two-star hotels. However, the occupancy of high-category hotels is the highest - 49.5% in 4- and 5-star hotels. 32.3% was the occupancy in 3-star hotels. 77% of the total number of nights spent by foreigners were in hotels with 4 and 5 stars.
The number of guests grew by 48.7% compared to 2022 and reached 470,200. The number of foreigners increased by 65.5%, and that of Bulgarians by 42.5%.
