The MPs resumed the first sitting of parliament interrupted yesterday after they were unable to elect a president of the 49th National Assembly. “We are continuing the sitting from yesterday,” said Vezhdi Rashidov who chaired the sitting, and asked whether there were any other nominations for president of parliament. When no nominations were forwarded, Rashidov scheduled the next sitting for 19 April.

Another meeting has been called between representatives of the parliamentary groups of GERB/SDS and We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria which is to nominate a contact group tasked with setting down the legislative priorities. “The formation of a government between the two top political forces in parliament is the top priority,” GERB leader Boyko Borissov told reporters after a meeting with the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelyia Ninova.
