Veronica turrilliana, which is found only in the western parts of the Strandzha Nature Park, bloomed before Easter, BNR-Burgas reported. The plant species is endemic to the Strandzha mountain range. Its petals are purple-blue with a light yellow ring in the middle.
The plant was described in 1923 by Bulgarian botanists N. Stoyanov and B. Stefanoff and was named after the English botanist William Turrill.
